Chef Vacancies at The Stags Head
Date: 19th March 2017
Full Time Chef
The Stags Head is a great community pub in the heart of Nether Edge. We are family friendly with a large outdoor area. Our menu style is classic pub food, offering good quality and value for money that is served alongside our award winning beers.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualities:
- Have a focus on producing consistently good food and delivering customer satisfaction.
- Will be organised, efficient and able to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Have a focus on portion control and waste management to maximise gross profit.
- Have good time management and can work on their own during quite periods.
- Be able to manage stock and perform monthly stock takes.
The pub is wet led, with food sales equating to 30% of our trade and therefore we want the food to complement our wet sales. We are looking for a motivated individual who can work under their own steam, working alongside the pizza chef and reporting to the general manager and the executive chef. There is room for progression for the right candidate to take on more responsibility and get involved with menu planning and development.
Full Time Pizza Chef
We have a wood fired outdoor pizza oven that we want to use to enhance our menu and add another dimension to our food offering. We are looking for someone with previous pizza making experience who can take charge of this side of the business. Who can work alongside the kitchen team and the general manager. We want to produce high quality pizzas that people can enjoy with our excellent range of beers and offer a takeaway service. Psalter lane is a busy road with a great mix of business’s and residential areas and we see the pizza oven as an area where we can really grow the business.
For both positions the salary will be dependent on relevant skills and previous experience. For more information please contact Mike.Pidgeon@thornbridge.co.uk or call 01629815999

We are very pleased to announce that a Thornbridge classic has returned into stock here at Riverside Brewery, our South Pacific Pale Ale, Kipling!
Single hopped with the Nelson Sauvin hop grown in New Zealand, Kipling exudes aromas passion fruit, gooseberry and mango. An initial sweetness and medium body are balanced by a lasting grapefruit-like bitter finish.
After a short absence, it is great to have this back in stock and available to buy from our Online Shop at:
Year of Beer- Puja
Date: 6th March 2017
Today we are packaging the third release from our Year of Beer calendar. This is a 6.4% Jasmine IPA called Puja!
We have taken a West Coast-style IPA recipe and infused 20 kilos of dried Jasmine flower blossoms (as you can see in the picture, left) sourced from the USA. Puja is a fabulously fragrant IPA with sweet undertones of night-flowering jasmine and aromatic, citrus hops.
This beer is part of the special project for 2017 in which we launch a new kegged beer every month this year. Next month we are releasing a special version of Thornbridge favourite, Halcyon, that will see our Imperial IPA infused with mango.
Look out for Puja and the other Year of Beer brews at The Thornbridge Taps. These are very limited edition so grab some whilst you can!

The Piano Players APA
Date: 20th February 2017
Anthony Burgess, who was born in 1917 and died in 1993, was a writer and composer who is regarded as one of the leading novelists of the twentieth century. His works are widely read all over the world. Burgess was a cultural figure whose work addresses many of the important issues of his time, including censorship, multi-culturalism, individual freedom and sexual liberation. His most famous novel, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (1962), was adapted into a film by Stanley Kubrick in 1971.
The International Anthony Burgess Foundation is a charity that encourages and supports public and scholarly interest in all aspects of the life and work of Anthony Burgess. Based in Manchester, England, we have an extensive library, archive and study centre containing Burgess’s books, music and papers. We also have a performance venue where we present new work by writers, artists and musicians.
Anthony Burgess would have celebrated his 100th birthday on 25 February 2017. This special anniversary beer, THE PIANOPLAYERS, takes its name from Burgess’s 1986 novel based on his experiences growing up in Manchester in the 1920s and 1930s, and his memories of his father Joe who played the piano in theatres, pubs and silent cinemas.
This is a 5.2% American Pale Ale brewed with Amarillo, Mosaic & Simcoe, with a classic Thornbridge-style light malt base to produce a very fruity and fresh beer. Piano Players offers a pungent combination of intense citrus and tropical fruit aromas of passionfruit, apricots, papaya and red berries.
To find out more about the great work The Anthony Burgess Foundation does please visit www.anthonyburgess.org
The Piano Players American Pale will be available in the Thornbridge Online Shop & Brewery Shop from Monday February 27th

We decided to make February easier for everyone by putting together a box of flowers, chocolate and strawberries – all in beer form!
Cocoa Porter 6.8% ABV
Cocoa Wonderland is a full bodied, robust porter with natural mocha malt flavours from the complex malt grist, complementing the decadent additions of real cocoa beans to the maturation process. A truly wonderful, award winning Chocolate beer.
I Love You Will U Marry Me - Strawberry Blonde Ale 4.5% ABV
I Love You Will U Marry Me is a light blonde ale matured with a very large amount of strawberries.
These complement the fruitiness of the beer and result in a natural sweetness balanced with just a hint of tartness creating a hugely refreshing and very drinkable beer
